VGF 23 is a paper codex, its leaves measuring 325 × 220. It contains 96 folia. Written space occupies an area of 280/290 × 170/180 mm, other than tragedies, which occupy an area of 180/195 × 95/100). The number of lines varies. The codex was written by a single scribe.
Decorations, initials, and inscriptions have not been coloured. There are marginal scholia and annotations between lines. The codex has a 18th-c. red leather cover, decorated with gold and gilt-edged pages.
