Description:
VGO 9 is a paper convolute constructed from two codices, containing 14 + 114 folia. Its leaves measure 147 × 105 mm. It has a new dark leather cover.
Part I (ff. 2-14) contains watermarks similar to Briquet no. 11703. It is constructed of a single quire of 6 bifolia + 1 folium (f. 14). The codex was foliated by a later hand in Greek letters. Text covers an area of 90 × 60 mm over 18 lines, and is largely written in red.
Part II (ff. 1-113) contains watermarks similar to Briquet nos. 3391 and 3069. It is constructed from 16 quires of mostly 4 bifolia + 1 folium. Catchwords are visible in places, along with quire signatures added by the copyist and a later hand. The codex was foliated in Greek numbers by a later hand. Folia were bound clumsily, and should be read in this order: ff. 38-45, 62-109, 46-61, 18, 19, 110-113, 20, 21, 22-37, 1-8, 16, 10-15, 17, 9. Text covers an area of 130 × 95 mm over 18-23 lines (ff. 1r-37v) and 95/100 × 45/55 over 26-30 lines (ff. 38r-103r). The codex was written by two scribes, who cannot always be distinguished. Ff. 1r-37r was largely written by Aristobulus Apostolides († 1535) and the rest by Michael Apostolius. Titles and initials are rubricated on ff. 38r-103r. Marginal decorations were added to f. 38r.
