Description:
VGQ 38 is a paper codex, its leaves measuring 214 × 145 mm. It contains watermarks similar to Briquet nos. 7693, 15908-909, 2502, and 201. It is constructed of 22 quires of mostly 4 bifolia + 1 folium, totalling 169 folia. Quire signatures are visible in places, and suggest the codex was once part of a larger volume, together with VGQ 51. The codex was foliated by A. Petavius. Written space occupies an area of 155 × 90, over 25 lines (ff. 1r-56r), 175 × 90 mm, over 28 lines (ff. 57r-77v), 80 × 75 mm over 10 lines (ff. 78r-155r), 150 × 95 mm, over 19 lines (ff. 158r-169r). Lines are marked in hard point ruling. The codex appears to have been written by a single scribe, who also wrote VGQ 51. Titles and initials are rubricated, and the scribe added occasional glosses. It has a 17th-c. parchment cover, of the kind associated with A. Petavius.
