Description:
VGQ 50 is a paper codex, its leaves measuring 210 × 140 mm. It contains watermarks similar to Briquet nos. 3934, 4345, 4347, and 12475. It is constructed of 29 quires of mostly 4 bifolia + 3 folia, totalling 223 folia. Quire signatures are visible, and the codex was foliated by a 17th-c. hand. Ff. 130 and 178 are damaged. Written space covers an area of 140/160 × 90 mm, over 17-21 lines (ff. 5r-144r) and 14-19 lines (ff. 145r-223r) in hard point ruling. The codex was written by Demetrius Drosinus, except for ff. 2r-5v. Inscriptions, partly in majuscule, and initials are rubricated. Ff. 5r-144r include numerous illustrations of horses in colour to accompany the text. The codex has a 17th-c. parchment cover.
