Note:
Printed in the Netherlands from the first edition, Ferrara 1553. The use of the Ferrara address could have been motivated by fear of possible censure from civil authorities, in the early and still precarious existence of Portuguese Jews in the Northern Netherlands. A marginal note on leaf A6r refers to the year 1599, without further comment; it can be assumed that the work was printed after this year, probably in Amsterdam. The resemblance of the vignette with the one which appears on the titlepage of the Biblia española, Amsterdam, 1611 has led some researchers (Salomon 1982; Offenberg 1993) to date the work around 1610.
