VLF 8 is a parchment codex from the first half of the 12th c. It comprises 2 quires of 4 bifolia, totalling 16 leaves (=32 pages). Writing space covers 270/275 x 205 mm, divided in 2 columns of 49 lines in hard point ruling. The text is written in Littera prae-gothica. The text opens with a decorated major initial in red. The start of each chapter receives minor (rubricated) initials. The codex has a 18th-c. cardboard binding protected by multi-coloured paper and a parchment spine. The papal lives up to Stephen V are written in the same hand. A somewhat later hand (c. 1130-1143?) added the dates of each pontificate. The same hand may have added the pontificates up to Honorius II (1124-1130). Various later hands added the pontificates up to Clement III (1187-1191).
