Description:
VLF 11 is a parchment codex from the first half of the 12th c., its leaves measuring 357 x 240 mm. It is constructed of 7 quires of irregular composition, totalling 58 leaves (116 pages). The dimensions of the written space vary significantly (ff. 1-19) 285/290 x 165/178 mm, divided into 2 columns of 43-49 lines; (ff. 20-58) 255/280 x 165/170 mm, with 40-46/45-64 lines in hard point ruling. Folio 13 is an inserted leaf measuring c. 200 x 120 mm; its written space covers 185 x 105 mm, with 41 lines. The text is written in Minuscula sub-carolina by several hands. Major initials are decorated with fabulous animals and tree branches in many colours. There are also many minor initials and initials that are rubricated. The codex has a 17th-c. cardboard binding, protected by sheepskin, typical for codices from the library of Melchisédech Thévenot.
