Description:
VLF 17 is a 10th-c. parchment codex, its leaves measuring 345 x 260 mm. It is a convolute codex containing 214 leaves. It has a 19th-c. cardboard cover with dark leather protection.
Part 1 (1r-164v) is constructed of 20 quires of mostly 4 bifolia, totalling 164 leaves (328 pages). Quire signatures in Roman numerals are in the lower margins. The leaves are partly numbered in dark ink by a 17th-c. hand (1-100). Written space covers 290 x 200 mm (44 lines in hard point ruling). The text is written by 2 scribes in Minuscula carolina. One of the scribes added lemmata in the margins up to f. 51v; an 11th-c. hand corrected the text.
Part 2 (165r-214r) is constructed of 5 quires of irregular composition. Quire signatures used to be in the lower margins, but most were cut off during the binding process. Part of f. 214 is also cut off. Written space covers 285 x 200 mm (44 lines in hard point ruling). The text is written by two scribes in Minuscula carolina. An 11th-c. hand corrected the text (the same as in part 1).
