Description:
VLF 22 is a 14th-c. parchment codex, its leaves measuring 337 x 235 mm. It is constructed of 21 quires of 4 bifolia, totalling 252 leaves (504 pages). Written space covers 255 x 165 mm, divided into 2 columns of 48 lines ruled in dark ink. The text is written in Littera gothica textualis Parisiensis. Each new book starts with major initials in different colours, decorated with leaves and animal figures. Minor initials in red or blue denote the start of a new chapter. Inscriptions are rubricated. The codex has a 17th-c. cardboard binding, protected by sheepskin, typical for codices from the library of Melchisédech Thévenot.
