Description:
VLF 27 is a paper codex from the second half of the 16th c., its leaves measuring 320 x 215 mm. Watermarks are: (ff. 1-22, 45-64, 75-114) similar to Briquet nos 1865-66, (ff. 23-44, 115-128, 145-172) Briquet no. 1863, (ff. 65-74) Briquet no. 1486, (ff. 134-143) Briquet no. 1100. The codex is constructed of 20 quires of irregular composition and some additional folia, totalling 172 leaves (344 pages). The text is written by six scribes, the first being Andreas Dudith (1533-1589), a Hungarian humanist. He is also responsible for the foliation in red numbers in the upper margins, and many marginalia. The codex has an 18th-c. cardboard binding protected by multi-coloured paper; the spine and corners are in parchment.
