Description:
VLF 48 is a 9th-c. parchment codex, its leaves measuring 307 x 250 mm. It is constructed of 12 quires of 4 bifolia, totalling 95 leaves (190 pages). Quire signatures are in the lower margins (added by the scribe). Written space covers 210/215 x 130/165 mm (25-29 lines in hard point ruling). The text is written in Minuscula carolina. The sermon at the start may be an autograph of Rather of Verona. Many marginal glosses were written by Martin of Laon (†875). The codex has a 19th-c. cardboard cover with paper protection in different colours. The spine and corners are in parchment. Fol. I is a 16th-or 17th-c. paper leaf. The ancient binding used to be in parchment and is partly conserved within cod. BPL 2513.
