Description:
VLF 56 is a 16th-c. paper codex, its leaves measuring 298 x 200 mm. It is constructed of 14 quires of mostly 5 bifolia, totalling 138 leaves (276 pages). The text is an autograph by Jean Brodeau (1500-1563). The author made many corrections to the text, some of these on added pieces of paper. A letter by Brodeau, dating to 1560, is now part of the Leiden manuscript BPL 885, as is a letter from François Daniel to Brodeau, dated to 1563. Two fragments of the Dialogus quaestionum LXV by Pseudo-Augustine have also been removed; they are now to be found in BPL 3230. The codex has an 18th-c. cardboard binding protected by multi-coloured paper; the spine and corners are in parchment.
