Description:
VLF 58 is a vellum (ff. 1-71) and parchment (ff. 72-124) codex from the first half of the 9th c., its leaves measuring 290 x 215 mm. The vellum part is constructed of 9 quires of 4 bifolia, the parchment part consists of 7 quires of 4 bifolia. Written space covers 200 x 150 mm (25 lines in hard point ruling). Two different scribes wrote in Minuscula carolina. Initials are rubricated, as are inscriptions. The codex has a 17th-c. cardboard binding protected by black leather, made between 1649 and 1654 by the Parisian Jacques Morel, who worked for Queen Christina of Sweden.
