Description:
VLF 59 is a 15th-c. parchment codex (except for two 17th-c. folios at ff. 51-52, with notes by Lucas Holstenius), its leaves measuring 300 x 220 mm. It is constructed of 14 quires of mostly 4 bifolia. Catchwords (added by the scribe) are still visible in the lower margins. Original quire signatures have generally disappeared, apart from a few exceptions. Written space covers 175 x 130 mm, divided into 2 columns of 34 lines ruled in dark ink. The text is written in Littera gothica textualis. Each work starts with major initials in blue or red paint, decorated in golden. Each new book has major initials in the same two colours and are decorated in several colours. Minor initials start off each chapter; these are painted red or blue. Inscriptions are rubricated; paragraph signs are again red and blue (from f. 53r onwards). The codex has an 18th-c. cardboard binding protected by multi-coloured paper and a parchment spine.
