Description:
VLF 61 is a parchment codex, dated to c. 800 (except for ff. 151-152, which are from the end of the 10th c.), its leaves measuring 298 x 210 mm. It is constructed of 20 quires of mostly 4 bifolia, totalling 152 leaves (304 pages). All quires, except for the last (of which the last folium is lost) are numbered . The first three folia are mutilated, particularly fol. 1, as are ff. 129-151 in the right upper corner. Only a small fragment of f. 152 remains. The first and last folia are damaged by water. Written space covers 225/245 x 170/180 mm, divided into 2 columns of 41-42 lines in hard point ruling. The codex was written by several scribes in Minuscula carolina. Corrections were added by several hands from the 10th-11th c. Initials and inscriptions are rubricated. The codex has a 19th-c. cardboard binding with dark leather protection (including the stamp of the Leiden University).
