Description:
VLF 64 is a parchment codex from the second half of the 10th c., its leaves measuring 305 x 220 mm. It is constructed of 11 quires of mostly 4 bifolia, totalling 61 leaves (122 pages). A few quire signatures are still visible, some added by the scribe, some by a slightly later hand. A parchment leaf was inserted between f. 5 and f. 6. Several leaves have had their right margin cut off. Written space covers 235 x 95/105 mm (29 lines in hard point ruling). The text was written by 2 scribes in Minuscula carolina. A lavishly decorated major initial appears on f. 1v. Other than that, each book starts off with minor initials, some rubricated, some more richly decorated. Inscriptions are also rubricated, as are the first letters of the verses. The codex has a 19th-c. cardboard cover with dark leather protection.
