Description:
VLF 67 is a parchment convolute of 5 manuscripts, totalling 34 leaves (68 pages), all fragments of larger texts, probably assembled by Melchior Goldastus (1578-1635). The codex has an 18th-c. cardboard binding with multi-coloured paper protection; the spine and corners are in dark leather.
Part 1 (ff. 1r-2v) dates from the second half of the 9th c., its leaves measuring c. 240 x 215 mm. It comprises 1 quire of a single bifolium. Written space covers 155 x 158 mm, divided into 2 columns of 25 lines in hard point ruling. The text is written in Minuscula carolina. It contains no decoration.
Part 2 (ff. 3r-8v) dates from the 9th or 10th c., its leaves measuring 284 x 216 mm. It comprises 1 quire of 3 bifolia. Written space covers 230 x 165/170 mm (30 lines in hard point ruling). The text is written in Minuscula carolina. Initials and inscriptions are rubricated.
Part 3 (ff. 9r-28v) dates from the 9th c., its leaves measuring c. 285 x 230 mm. It comprises 1 quire of 4 bifolia, 1 quire of 5 bifolia (minus 1 leaf), and 3 additional leaves. Written space covers (ff. 9r-23v) 215/220 x 165 mm (35 lines), and (ff. 24r-28v) 220 x 190 mm, divided into 2 columns of 35 lines in hard point ruling. The text was written by a single scribe in Minuscula carolina. Inscriptions and initials are rubricated, as are some letters in the text.
Part 4 (ff. 29r-v) dates from the 13th c., its leaves measuring 283 x 180 mm. Written space covers 195 x 105 mm / 210 x 110 mm, divided into 2 columns of 46 and 53 lines in hard point ruling. The text is written in Littera gothica textualis.
Part 5 (ff. 30v-34v) dates from the 12th c. (1154?), its leaves measuring c. 270 x 180 mm. It comprises 1 quire of 3 bifolia (minus 1 leaf). Written space covers c. 195/205 x 140 mm, divided into 2 and 3 columns of 28 lines in hard point ruling. The text is written in Minuscula carolina. Inscriptions and initials are rubricated.
