Description:
VLF 78 is a paper codex from the second half of the 15th c., its leaves measuring 290 x 205 mm. Water marks are similar to Briquet nos 8614, 8658, and 10022. It is constructed of 38 quires of mostly 6 bifolia, totalling 446 leaves (892). Only a few catchwords and quire signatures / foliation numerals remain. Written space varies significantly. The text was written by a single scribe in Littera hybrida. Major initials in blue and red start off several books, others have not been filled out. Fol. 1r contains a lavishly decorated initial in different colours. Inscriptions have not been filled out. Paragraph signs were rubricated. The codex has a 19th-c. cardboard cover with dark leather protection.
