Description:
VLF 88 is a 10th-c. parchment codex, its leaves measuring 275 x 210 mm. It is constructed of 15 quires of mostly 4 bifolia, totalling 107 leaves (214 pages). Quire signatures are in Roman numerals, of which those for the first 6 quires were cut off during the binding process. Ff. 106 and 107 show damage. Written space covers 200/225 x 165/170 (25-28 lines in hard point ruling). The text was written by at least 12 different scribes in Minuscula carolina. Initials and inscriptions are rubricated. The codex has a 17th-c. cardboard binding protected by black leather, made between 1649 and 1654 by the Parisian Jacques Morel, who worked for Queen Christina of Sweden.
