Description:
VLF 90 is a parchment codex, dating partly from the second half of the 14th c., partly from the 16th c., its leaves measuring 280/285 x 210/220 mm. It is constructed of 19 quires of mostly 4 bifolia, totalling 145 leaves (290 pages). One leaf is lacking at the beginning. Folios 112 to 145 were added in the 16th c. Because of this, there are two different lay outs. Up to f. 112, written space covers 200 x 150 mm, divided into 2 columns of 39 lines, ruled in dark ink. The text is written in Littera gothica prae-humanistica. Catchwords are still visible. Each new work and book starts off with major or minor initials in red or blue. Paragraph signs are also painted red or blue. A few rubricated inscriptions are remnant, while others have not been filled out. From f. 112 onwards, written space covers 200/185 x 140/155 mm, divided into 2 columns of 22-28 lines. This text is written in a 16th-c. script. The codex has a 17th-c. cardboard binding, protected by sheepskin, typical for codices from the library of Melchisédech Thévenot.
