Description:
VLF 95 is a 15th-c. paper codex, its leaves measuring 300 x 202 mm. Its watermarks are similar to Briquet no. 6807. Some parchment leaves were added to each quire, excepting the last one. The codex is constructed of 3 quires of respectively 8, 4, and 2 bifolia (minus some folios), totalling 23 leaves (46 pages). Catchwords are remnant on f. 15v. Written space covers 210 x 135 mm, divided into 2 columns of 39-42 lines. The text was written by a single scribe in cursive script. Lavishly decorated minor initials are to be found on ff. 1r, 13r, and 16v. Each work and chapter starts off with red or blue initials. Inscriptions are rubricated. The codex has a 19th-c. cardboard binding with multi-coloured paper protection, as well as parchment on the spine and the corners. Before 1666, this codex was part of Ms. BPL 42 of the University of Leiden. Today, part of the text that belongs to VLF 95 is still found in BPL 42 (on ff. 82, 83-85).
