Description:
VLF 101 is a parchment codex from the second half of the 15th c., its leaves measuring 285 x 195 mm. It is constructed of 17 quires of mostly 6 bifolia, totalling 196 leaves (392 pages). Some catchwords remain. A contemporaneous hand added quire signatures. Written space covers 205 x 120 mm (ff. 1-83) / 210 x 120 mm (ff. 84-195) (each with 30 lines in red colour). The text was written in Littera gallica hybrida. There is a lavishly decorated, major initial in golden, blue and red on f. 1r. Each tragedy starts off with minor initials in red and blue. The initials for each different verse are highlighted in yellow. Inscriptions are rubricated. The codex has a 19th-c. cardboard cover with dark leather protection.
