Description:
VLO 15 is a parchment codex from the first half of the 11th c. (with some fragments from the 10th and 13th c.). The codex is what is known as the Liber manualis of Ademar of Chabannes (988-c. 1034): his notebook in which he assembled texts for personal use. The codex contains texts written between 1023 and 1025 (see Landes, 1995). In 1900, it was split up into 14 different parts, now held together by a cardboard binding with dark paper protection. Its 212 leaves are of different size; written space also varies significantly. The text is mostly written in Carolina minuscula, in Ademar's own hand. Illustrations are also by Ademar.
