Description:
VLQ 9 is a parchment convolute, its 104 leaves measuring c. 270 x 200 mm. The codex has a 20th-c. cardboard binding with dark leather protection.
Part 1 (1-81) dates from the second half of the 6th or 7th c. Written space covers c. 185 x 150/155 mm (21 lines in hard point ruling). Almost all leaves are (sometimes severely) damaged. The text was written by a single scribe in Uncial script. Inscriptions are rubricated. The text is decorated with illustrations of herbs and plants in several colours.
Part 2 (82) dates from the 13th c., its leaves measuring 260 x 195. The text is written in a German hand in Littera carolina. The text on f. 82v has partly faded.
Part 3 (83-104) dates from the second half of the 6th c., its leaves measuring c. 275 x 195 mm. Written space covers 180/190 x 150 mm (21 lines in hard point ruling). Fol. 83 is torn. The text was written by a single scribe in Uncial script. Inscriptions are rubricated.
