Description:
VLQ 12 is a parchment convolute, its 81 leaves measuring 270 x 195 mm. The codex has a 16th/17th-c. parchment binding, which used to have leather straps. The binding was probably made for Paul Pétau.
Part 1 (1-58) dates from the 11th c. Written space covers 220 x 135 mm (31 lines in hard point ruling). The text was mostly written by a single scribe in Minuscula carolina. The text is almost entirely faded in some places. Initials are rubricated, as are inscriptions from f. 51v onwards.
Part 2 (59-68) dates from the second half of the 12th c. Written space covers 200 x 135 mm, divided into 2 columns (37 lines in dark ink). The text is written in Littera prae-gothica textualis. Major initials are in red and blue. Inscriptions are rubricated.
Part 3 (69-72, 78-81) dates from the 9th c. Written space covers 185/190 x 140/155 mm (28-29 lines in hard point ruling). The text was written by 3 scribes in Minuscula carolina. Inscriptions and initials on ff. 69v-70v are rubricated.
Part 4 (73-77) dates from the 10th c. Written space covers 180 x 150 mm (24-28 lines in hard point ruling). The text was written by 2 scribes in Minuscula carolina. Inscriptions are rubricated.
