Description:
VLQ 13 is a parchment convolute containing 54 leaves. The codex has a 16th/17th-c. parchment binding, which used to have leather straps. The binding was probably made for Paul Pétau.
Part 1 (1-3, 3*, 4-14) dates from the early 11th c., its leaves measuring 258 x 180 mm. Written space covers 200 x 120 mm (29 lines in hard point ruling). The text was written in Minuscula carolina formata.
Part 2 (15-30) dates from the second half of the 10th c., its leaves measuring 272 x 183 mm. Written space covers 210 x 125/130 mm (24 lines in hard point ruling). The text was written by 3 scribes in Minuscula carolina. Initials are in several colours. Some margins are decorated.
Part 3 (31-38) dates from the beginning of the 13th c., its leaves measuring 245 x 165 mm. Written space covers 175 x 120 mm, divided into 2 columns of 39 lines in dark ink. The text is written in Littera gothica textualis. Major and minor initials are in red or blue. Inscriptions are rubricated.
Part 4 (39-45) dates from the second half of the 13th c., its leaves measuring 232 x 175 mm. All leaves show damage in the upper margins. Written space covers 160 x 108 mm, divided into 2 columns (33 lines in dark ink). The text is written in Littera diplomatica cursiva cancellariae Romanae. Initials, inscriptions and paragraph signs are rubricated.
