Description:
VLQ 34 is a parchment convolute which contains 116 leaves. After 1886 it was divided into 2 seperate parts which are now called 34 I and 34 II.
Part I (1-28) dates from the 11th c. Its leaves measure c. 280 x 220 mm. Written space covers c. 260 x 175/190 mm, divided into 2 columns of 45 lines in hard point ruling. The text is written in Minuscula carolina. Initials and inscriptions are in dark ink. The codex has a 19th-c. cardboard binding with dark leather protection, on which the emblem of Leiden University is stamped.
Part II (29-116) dates from the 10th c. Its leaves measure 250 x 185/190 mm. Written space covers 195/200 x 125/130 mm (31 lines in hard point ruling). The text is written in Minuscula carolina. Only a few initials and inscriptions are rubricated. The codex has a similar binding as part I.
