Description:
VLQ 54 is a parchment convolute (except for ff. 99-106: paper), its 136 leaves measuring 250 x 170 mm. The codex has a 17th-c. cardboard binding with red leather protection and gilded ornaments.
Part 1 (1-112) dates from the first half of the 11th c. (again except for ff. 99-106: 16th-17th c). Written space covers 200/215 x 110 mm (29-30 lines) in hard point ruling. The text was written by 8 different scribes in Minuscula carolina. Inscriptions and initials are in several colours, except for ff. 99-106, which do not contain any ornaments or colouring.
Part 2 (113-136) dates from the 11th c. Written space covers 210/205 x 110 mm (26 lines in hard point ruling). The text is written in Minuscula sub-carolina. Initials and inscriptions are rubricated.
