Full Description:
Germain to Sir Henry Clinton (or the officers) appointed to command an expedition from Cork to the southern colonies. The transports under the convoy of His majesty's ships: 'Bristol', 'Actaon', 'Boreas', 'Solebay', 'Syren', 'Sphyna', 'Deal Castle', the 'Hawk' sloop and the 'Thunder' bomb vessel (under Sir Peter Parker). Its purpose (with the assistance of the 'well affected' inhabitants) to effect the restoration of legal government, and offer free pardon to all such as shall lay down their arms and submit to the king's government. Note: Major-General Earl Cornwallis and the 33rd Regiment are also ordered to be dispatched.
