Extract of a letter from New York. Intelligence of the death of [the Continental General, Richard] Montgomery before Quebec on 31 December, the 'provincials' losing 100 men slain and 300 taken prisoner in the attack. Also concerns news of General [Henry] Lee in the north, General [Philip] Schuyler's progress from Albany against the Tories [in Upststate New York], and the capture of Frank Stephens (sent prisoner to Hartford) [Connecticut].
