Full Description:
Governor Chester of Pensacola to Howe. List of his troops for the defence of the province [of West Florida], commanding an engineer to carry out temporary works. Reports from the 'Indian Country' of an immediate rebel attack on the colony (by way of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers). Plans to protect that place (and Mobile) with reinforcements from Jamaica under Sir Basil Keith, and the admiral upon that station. Intelligence also of the arrival of a party of 'north Americans' at New Orleans under George Gibson, who have despatches for the governor of Louisiana. Thus attempting to open up trade relations with the Court of Spain and the Colonies in rebellion.
