Full Description:
Barrington to Howe. War Office. Concerns doubts having arisen regarding claims made by the Landgrave of Hesse-Cassel regarding higher pay said to be due to the Chasseurs etc. Requests intelligence to enable him to do it justice if the claim is founded. Also representations are made that the Chassuers do not precisely answer to the Light Infantry in the British Service, but have always been considered a higher rank. Sends copy of Faucitt's letter on the subject. Asks what Anspessades there are among the Hessians and the rate of their pay.
