Howe to Colonel A Prevost. 'Be Ye Lively' frigate. New York. Acknowledges the reciept of letters dated 9 September and 12 October. Is glad that the town of St Augustine is in a state of defence. Hopes the province can be secured from insult. Mr Stuart is instructed to have the Creek and Choctaw Indians in a state of preparedness against invaders [i.e. from Georgia or from Spanish Louisiana]. Promises provisions money and barrack furniture. Instructions regarding vacancies.
