Full Description:
Burgoyne to Howe. Regarding his sending of a copy of the convention [i.e. surrender terms] concluded with Mr [Horatio] Gates,which was undertaken by his 'investment' of near 17,000 men and 'impending famine'. Detaling the size of the American forces, a considerable amount being first-rate militiamen of the Green Mountains and Hampshire Grants. Also concerns negotiations with General Washington for prisoner exchanges, particularly the exchange of Ethan Allen for Major Ackland.
