Full Description:
Lord George Germain to General Sir William Howe. A letter from Whitehall stating that the King had granted his request to leave his post as Commander of the Army but only if Sir Henry Clinton was still in America to take over command. If Sir Henry had already left, he was to remain in his post until Sir Henry's return, or another suitable replacement as designated by the King was appointed.
