Full Description:
Brigadier-General Augustine Prevost to General Sir William Howe. A letter from Saint Augustine remarking on the long and tedious voyage of the 'Daphne' to there on its way to the north-west and New York, via Jamaica and Pensacola. Also mentioned are expenses and the thought of submitting accounts and vouchers by this precarious route. There was also talk of possible rebel action that may result in a siege of the garrison, but was more thought of as probable plunder and destruction of settlements along the River St John[s], however, there were difficulties in bringing in heavy artillery, as support, other than by water, as the frigates were blocked up in harbour. Four companies of Rangers were almost completed to come under the command, but awaiting orders.
