Full Description:
General Sir Henry Clinton. New York. Regarding the appointment of overseeers of the poor. Also the setting up of a rent for persons and 'houses and stores who and which are not under the protection of the government which are occupied by merchants and othes not entitled to quarters as the constituting part of this garrison and whereas large sums of money are requisite in assisting the poor, lighting the lamps, repairing the pumps, cleaning the streets ...' Also sets uo John Smyth to demand six months rent ending 1 May, and when those rents are received that they are to be deposited to Mr Elias Desbrosses who is appointed treasurer.
