Full Description:
Brigadier-General James Hamilton and commanding officers of 8 regiments to Major-General William Phillips. A letter from Cambridge requesting that consideration be given by the Government to adequate clothing for the British troops under the Convention of Saratoga, for the winter. Previous supplies from Canada had been left behind on orders of the Commander-in-Chief, even though previously paid for by the men, so replacements shouldn't be paid for again. One blanket of good quality, one woollen cap, a thick double breasted flannel waistcoat with sleeves and a blanket coat should be issued to each man. A return to be made by each regiment for quality woollen cloth required for leggings and stockings etc, for which the men would be charged.
