Full Description:
Clinton to Germain. A letter from New York about the arrival of 70th Regiment in Halifax and the temporary postponement of embarkation of Marines until deliberation was made on them. Decision made for two battalions to be sent to replace the Corps awaiting return to Europe. Major-General Eyre Massey stated that the works at Halifax were in very good condition in the defence, and a sufficient garrison to defend it. Stated that there had been a success in actions at Bedford and Fairhaven by Major-General Gray over the enemy, and would forward accounts on them both.
