Full Description:
Governor Patrick Tonyn to General Sir Henry Clinton. A letter from St Augustine stating that the naval force had returned to the St John's River with Prevost sending a plan to secure St Mary's harbour. Had requested Lord [Admiral] Howe to establish protection of the coast and rivers. Invasion of the province being concerted by Congress, also contemplating that of the Creek Nation, so Colonel Williamson collected troops in Carolina just incase it happened. The Indians made incursions into rebel territory leaving women and children unharmed, just attacking men at arms. Requested gunpowder to Lord Howe as supplies were low. Requested Captain Moncrieff to supply boats for added protection. PS.The Brigadier-General sent a state of the garrison provisions but the request made for inhabitants who had very little, and would really appreciate some as well, for sale, especially flour.
