Full Description:
Amherst to Grant. Whitehall. Colonel Medows serving as a Brigadier is nominated aide-de-camp. Encloses brevet of Colonel in the army for Sir Henry Calder to obviate any unpleasantness that may arise from the circumstance of Medows being Colonel and Calder, who was his senior, on Lieutenant-Colonel. Should Calder have left the army or expressed a desire to discontinue serving, the commission is to be returned, that it may be cancelled.
