Full Description:
Clinton to Germain. New York. Number 35. Royal approbation of conduct and behaviour was received with the greatest gratitude and respect. Commands respecting a settlement on the Penobscott River arrived too late to attempt making it this winter, and the person mentioned not appearing makes Germain apprehend he may have sailed on the 'September' packet ship which was taken by the rebels. Have not received any intelligence from Campbell since his departure from Savannah and do not believe that the enemy has sent any detachment southwards. Two victualling ships from Cork have arrived, and recommending Captain Strangeways.
