Full Description:
Prevost to Clinton. Camp, St John's Island, near Charles Town [Charleston]. Disappointed at the return of Mathews to the northward, hoped the Southern colonies had become an object of attention. Arrival of the ' Perseus' and 'Rose' with transports. Rebel army supposedly 5,000 strong is camped about eight miles on the road to Jackson's Borough. Proposes to station the troops on Beaufort Island during the great heat. Enquires as to bat and forage money for troops from Florida. Desires the increase in powers of the Courts-Martials.
