Full Description:
Barkley to McLean. Blonde, Penobscot River. Acknowledges letter requesting a ship might be sent to New York with dispatches to the Commander-in-Chief. Has received authentic information that eight or nine enemy ships are on this coast and cannot think it prudent to diminish the small force he now has until their intentions are ascertained. If the King's ships go for the protection of Nova Scotia, upon his arrival at Halifax, a warship will be immediately dispatched for New York.
