Full Description:
Micahel Francklin to General Sir Henry Clinton. Halifax, Nova Scotia. Regarding an extract of a letter from Lord Germian by which he is directed to dispose of the Indians of his department to co-operate with the King's troops. Also contains description of the Indians therewith. 500 families, all Roman Catholics. Near three thousand persons [Micmacs etc.] who are scattered throughout the province, and live entirely by hunting and fishing. Also concerns a description of his own situation and of finding that £300 per annum is insufficient, states that he has struggled with great difficulties and represented the necessity of providing a proper fund for the purposes of Indian affairs.
