Full Description:
Major John Butler to General Haldimand. Rememberance to Clinton. Remarking on the considered fate of every officer and soldier serving on the frontier, and what they are to expect if they fall into the enemy's hands Lieutenent Henry Hare of the Indian Department and Serjeant Newbury of Butler's Rangers were taken on a scout of Olsego Lake, no sooner were they taken, than they were they executed. Likewise a gentleman sent with dispaches was hung immediately.
