Full Description:
Germain to Clinton. Whitehall. Number 50. Acknowledges receipt of letters. Loss of Garrison at Stony Point, the expedition to Connecticut, and Hamilton's conduct in exposing himself to the misfortune he has experienced by advancing so far into the country without his orders. Letters transmitted from Monsieur D'Estaign, the military proceedings in Georgia, Haldimand's requisition of 2000 men, and the defence of Penobscot by McLean. Also concerns the request for Colonel Dalrymple to succeed Sir William Erskine as Quartermaster General, the surprise at Paulus Hook, and the arrival of Admiral Arbuthnot.
