Full Description:
McLean to Clinton. Halifax. Discussion includes the loss of HMS North and one of the transports of the harbour, General Haldimand not mentioning any interruption in the tranquillity of the province, as also does Campbell reporting everything quiet. The 'Albany', stores, provisions and a detachment of the 74th have arrived (the garrison consisting of upwards of 500 men). The Provincial Corps who have been successful in recruiting in Newfoundland, will evacuate Fort Cumberland in the spring, and it will be necessary to keep Fort Howe. Captain Spry delivered his accounts for 1779, and thinks that transports should be sent from New York to load coals at the Spanish River.
