Full Description:
Prevost to Clinton. Savannah. Concerning the death of Lieutenant-Colonel Fuser, recommends Glaxier to succeed him and Captain evost if thought deserving for the majority. Intelligence of four boats having landed a party of rebels at the White Bluff and on the Georgia Sea Islands, and the carrying off of near 140 'negroes'. Sent a message to Captain Gayton that some measure be taken if possible to intercept their return. Brigadier General Paterson arrived yesterday, his demand of troops amounts to 1,500 effectives by which means the garrison will remain about 1,000 strong (but no artillerymen).
