Full Description:
Clinton to Prevost, Headquarters, James' Island. Acknowledges letter of March 2nd and expresses satifaction at learning of movement on 'the 4th'. Expresses regrets to Prevost's assertions that Savannah and Augustine are so drained of artillary, and proposes that they will receive supplies as soon as they can be procured. Also instructs that the Indians good will is to be retained, and to let them understand that they are expected to be called upon shortly. Also instructs that Prevost's forces should repair their redoubts and to contract their defences by forming a citadel at the bluff where the old battery stood, and that he is sending an engineer who will undertake that work.
